The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sæmann Almarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gústav Baugsson having to interfere. Gústav Baugsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sæmann Almarsson in the 9th minute of the match. After 9 played minutes Þórshöll Hrísey got a freekick which was hit by Einvarður Ásmundarson. Ingvaldur Aðalmundsson was out of position in the 13 minute of play, and Jóvin Þengilsson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jóvin Þengilsson really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Jóvin Þengilsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ingvaldur Aðalmundsson having to interfere. Gústav Baugsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eggert Leifsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gústav Baugsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Þórshöll Hrísey getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Einvarður Ásmundarson hit a great ball. After 41 minutes, Einvarður Ásmundarson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Þórshöll Hrísey and the Grænu Tófurnar players grew even worse after the yellow card. Einvarður Ásmundarson hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Nóni Sigfastsson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 42nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 44th minute Sæmann Almarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gústav Baugsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 45 minutes, Friðrik Erlingsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Þórshöll Hrísey and the Grænu Tófurnar players grew even worse after the yellow card. Friðrik Erlingsson hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eggert Leifsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jóvin Þengilsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ingvaldur Aðalmundsson having to interfere. Þórshöll Hrísey's Einvarður Ásmundarson got his second yellow card of the match in the 54th minute. The referee ordered Einvarður Ásmundarson off the ground. The supporters of Grænu Tófurnar booed when Þórshöll Hrísey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Einvarður Ásmundarson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vilhelm Þórarinsson was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 58th minute. Grænu Tófurnar's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a defensive mix-up in Þórshöll Hrísey's zone, Eggert Leifsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gústav Baugsson came out of the goal and Eggert Leifsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Þórshöll Hrísey getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Eldgrímur Bragason hit a great ball. In the 64th minute, Þórshöll Hrísey's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sæmann Almarsson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Eggert Leifsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Þórshöll Hrísey's Gústav Baugsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eggert Leifsson in the 71st minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Eggert Leifsson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gústav Baugsson. Eggert Leifsson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the 85th minute, Sæmann Almarsson fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 88 minutes into the match, Þórshöll Hrísey's goalkeeper Gústav Baugsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sæmann Almarsson. Hólm Bragason scored 2-1 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ingvaldur Aðalmundsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 95th match minute, Þórshöll Hrísey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Goðmundur Hingsson to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Þórshöll Hrísey fans cheered their team off the field, for while Grænu Tófurnar had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
