Eðvar Reimarsson came out and tried to block the shot, but Vébjörn Svangeirsson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. Grankell Elísson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Grettir Reyrsson during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Grettir Reyrsson hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Fjólmundur Guðþórsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Eðvar Reimarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Strata Bæ's goalkeeper Eðvar Reimarsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vébjörn Svangeirsson. Grettir Reyrsson struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Grankell Elísson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Strata Bæ. Grankell Elísson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulrich Hrafnsson in the 27th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Strata Bæ's Fannberg Gestsson seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Fannberg Gestsson the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Strata Bæ protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Fannberg Gestsson had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Strata Bæ fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 28th minute. Penalty! Grankell Elísson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson in the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gizur Baldursson in the 43rd minute of play forced Lindin Hólmavík's goalkeeper Grankell Elísson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute Vébjörn Svangeirsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eðvar Reimarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ásgautur Birgisson hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Strata Bæ's Willard Guðmarsson got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 55th minute, Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Grankell Elísson. The goal made the score 2-1. Eðvar Reimarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fjólmundur Guðþórsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Vébjörn Svangeirsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Múli Styrmisson charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Múli Styrmisson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Múli Styrmisson kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Grankell Elísson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With his leg Grankell Elísson managed to avoid a goal in the 72ndth minute, when Strata Bæ's Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Vébjörn Svangeirsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Eðvar Reimarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 80 minutes of play, Lindin Hólmavík's Vébjörn Svangeirsson made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Willard Guðmarsson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Grankell Elísson. Lindin Hólmavík's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Gizur Baldursson came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Strata Bæ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gizur Baldursson couldn't finish the play. If Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ásgautur Birgisson hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Eðvar Reimarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Finnur Ásvaldsson in the 93rd minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Lindin Hólmavík's goalkeeper Grankell Elísson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson. Lindin Hólmavík's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
