The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sigurvin Larsson. Sigurvin Larsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sigurvin Larsson having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Tandur Kópavogi's Ásröður Valsson got a free kick in the 10th minute. Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sigurvin Larsson. Sigurvin Larsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Tandur Kópavogi's zone, Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sigurvin Larsson came out of the goal and Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Tandur Kópavogi! Willard Guðmarsson walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 31st minute, Fannberg Gestsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gýmir Patreksson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Ulrich Hrafnsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sigurvin Larsson was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Sigurvin Larsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulrich Hrafnsson in the 41st minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ulrich Hrafnsson to strike the kick off in the second half. Strata Bæ's Eðvar Reimarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viljar Einvarðsson in the 51st minute of play. After 53 played minutes Tandur Kópavogi got a freekick which was hit by Karel Dagbjartsson. Eðvar Reimarsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gýmir Patreksson, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Ulrich Hrafnsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Sigurvin Larsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ulrich Hrafnsson in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sigurvin Larsson saved Tandur Kópavogi from getting behind. Sigurvin Larsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Geirfinnur Sveinþórsson in the 72nd minute. After 78 minutes, Ásröður Valsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tandur Kópavogi and the Strata Bæ players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ásröður Valsson kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Ulrich Hrafnsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Tandur Kópavogi booed when Strata Bæ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Þorgarður Sigfastsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gýmir Patreksson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Eðvar Reimarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Viljar Einvarðsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Strata Bæ had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
