The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Léttir Höfn's Brandur Aronsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Goðmundur Sveinsson in the 4th minute of play. Herbjörn Garpsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Stefán Kristbjörnsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Dufþakur Sindrason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ásmar Óttarsson scored 1-1 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brandur Aronsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Brandur Aronsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Goðmundur Sveinsson in the 34th minute of the match. Herbjörn Garpssons short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Stefán Kristbjörnsson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Stefán Kristbjörnsson stood somewhat misplaced when Herbjörn Garpsson came free in front of goal and shot 2-1 to the left of him in the 37 minute. Manfred Marvinsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Stefán Kristbjörnsson made a huge save. When Léttir Höfn's Herbjörn Garpsson in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ásmar Óttarsson to make the kick off. Stefán Kristbjörnsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herbjörn Garpsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Eyþór Larsson kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After having played for 65 minutes, Herbjörn Garpsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Léttir Höfn's supporters crossed their fingers, but Herbjörn Garpsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Herbjörn Garpsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefán Kristbjörnsson having to interfere. Herbjörn Garpsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80thth minute of the game Herbjörn Garpsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Saga Hveragerði's Stefán Kristbjörnsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
