An unexpectedly hard shot by Garðar Halldórsson in the 16th minute of play forced KFUM Bæ's goalkeeper Stirnir Egilsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Garðar Halldórsson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Stirnir Egilsson. That made the score 2-0 in the 19 minute of play. In the 34th minute Rósinkrans Unnsteinsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Njáll Skaptason saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored Grundaval's protests and gave Blængur Hansson a yellow card for diving instead. Blængur Hansson kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. KFUM Bæ's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
