In the 4th minute Laufar Baldvinsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óttar Hreinsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Djásn fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Djásn's Flórent Örvarsson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Barði Samúelsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Rósinberg Indriðason fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Þeysir Akureyri's protests and gave Rósinberg Indriðason a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Djásn booed when Þeysir Akureyri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rósinberg Indriðason didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flórent Örvarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valtýr Flókason having to interfere. Gautur Ingimarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Þeysir Akureyri were furious when Bjarnharður Þengilsson was red carded, 27 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Thorberg Gunnbergsson shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 35th minute, Rósinberg Indriðason hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Barði Samúelsson sped through Þeysir Akureyri's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Valtýr Flókason. Valtýr Flókason tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
