Fjalar Hásteinsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Signar Hjörvarsson having to make a save. Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Signar Hjörvarsson having to interfere. When Hallmann Eymundsson fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Splæs Sandgerði's protests and gave Hallmann Eymundsson a yellow card for diving instead. Friðleifur Aðalsteinsson walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The supporters of Splæs Sandgerði booed when Stoð Þingeyri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lár Valgarðsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Fjalar Hásteinsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stoð Þingeyri's supporters rose to their feet, but Fjalar Hásteinsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Signar Hjörvarsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Signar Hjörvarsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. If Fjalar Hásteinsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Signar Hjörvarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the game, Stoð Þingeyri's Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Signar Hjörvarsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 90th minute, Ýmir Darrason hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Arndór Böðvarsson came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Splæs Sandgerði fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arndór Böðvarsson couldn't finish the play. 95 minutes into the match, Splæs Sandgerði's goal looked a bit too open when Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson came free, but Signar Hjörvarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Stoð Þingeyri had played much better football throughout.
