The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugi Falgeirsson got free with Sigsteinn Arnþórsson in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hersteinn Greipsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dagmann Valbjörnsson in the 40th minute of play. Dögun Mývatni's Antoníus Gíslason got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 48 minutes into the match, Dögun Mývatni's Dagmann Valbjörnsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hersteinn Greipsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half Dögun Mývatni were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
