An unexpectedly hard shot by Finnvarður Arnaldsson in the 13th minute of play forced Samval Akureyri's goalkeeper Freyviður Finnbogason to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Samval Akureyri's Freyviður Finnbogason proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Samval Akureyri from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugi Falgeirsson got free with Freyviður Finnbogason in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 19 minutes of play, Kompan Öræfi's Hugi Falgeirsson made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Freyviður Finnbogason was left in no man's land by his defense there! Freyviður Finnbogason made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Hugi Falgeirsson sent off a good shot on target. After 28 minutes, Otti Valgarðsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Samval Akureyri and the Kompan Öræfi players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Samval Akureyri fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 27th minute. Penalty! Freyviður Finnbogason had in the 29thth minute some difficulties stopping Birkir Fannarsson's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When Seifur Geirfinnsson came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Kompan Öræfi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Seifur Geirfinnsson couldn't finish the play. Freyviður Finnbogason came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Kompan Öræfi's Finnvarður Arnaldsson. But to his dismay, Finnvarður Arnaldsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Seifur Geirfinnsson hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 43 minutes into the match, Hlini Ásgrímsson notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Kompan Öræfi's Hersteinn Greipsson. Hersteinn Greipsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sigurjón Ragnarsson was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Kompan Öræfi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tandri Oddsson to maneuver through the defense. After 53 played minutes, Samval Akureyri's Sýrus Sigdórsson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hersteinn Greipsson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Samval Akureyri reached it. A collision led to Kompan Öræfi getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Ástbjörn Karelsson hit a great ball. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 59th minute, but Hersteinn Greipsson got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Kompan Öræfi hanging dry this time. If Hugi Falgeirsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Finnvarður Arnaldsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freyviður Finnbogason having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Samval Akureyri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norðmann Gilsson to maneuver through the defense. Freyviður Finnbogason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugi Falgeirsson in the 73rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sigurjón Ragnarsson during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sigurjón Ragnarsson kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Kristall Hallsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hersteinn Greipsson having to interfere. Samval Akureyri's Hlini Ásgrímsson got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hersteinn Greipsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sigurjón Ragnarsson in the 85th minute of play. Freyviður Finnbogason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugi Falgeirsson in the 88th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hugi Falgeirsson in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Freyviður Finnbogason prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hugi Falgeirsson struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Freyviður Finnbogason didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kompan Öræfi. Freyviður Finnbogason came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Kompan Öræfi's Hugi Falgeirsson. But to his dismay, Hugi Falgeirsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
