Tumas Kolsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bjólan Jökulsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Magnþór Vignisson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sæþór Sigurkarlsson lost his temper 20 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pronto Dalvík fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! When Steinþór Fjalarsson came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Þeysir Akureyri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steinþór Fjalarsson couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Pronto Dalvík's Bjólan Jökulsson got control of the ball when Tumas Kolsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ingileifur Styrmisson hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute, Steinþór Fjalarsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Steinþór Fjalarsson in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bjólan Jökulsson saved Pronto Dalvík from getting behind. In the 36th minute, Jens Gilsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vígmundur Jóhannesson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elli Gregorsson having to interfere. The supporters of Pronto Dalvík booed when Þeysir Akureyri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlían Sturluson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 46 minutes of play, Þeysir Akureyri's Tumas Kolsson made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bjólan Jökulsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jens Gilsson was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Þeysir Akureyri's Júlían Sturluson got a free kick in the 55th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Pronto Dalvík's goal looked a bit too open when Steinþór Fjalarsson came free, but Bjólan Jökulsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tumas Kolsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bjólan Jökulsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tumas Kolsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Bæron Þorrason's late challenge caught a Þeysir Akureyri's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bæron Þorrason helped the player get up and apologised. After 72 played minutes Pronto Dalvík got a freekick which was hit by Bæron Þorrason. Pronto Dalvík's Bjólan Jökulsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steinþór Fjalarsson in the 79th minute of play. 79 minutes into the game, Ingileifur Styrmisson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pronto Dalvík's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Þeysir Akureyri the free kick. Steinþór Fjalarsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pronto Dalvík's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
