Sigurjón Bogason received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Víðir Reykjavík booed when Hafdal Grenivík was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Auðunn Hallbjörnsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Víðir Reykjavík's Þórlindur Hallvarðsson got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 17th minute of the match, Þórlindur Hallvarðsson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 19th minute, Sigurjón Bogason got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Valþór Rúnarsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Hafdal Grenivík getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Auðunn Hallbjörnsson hit a great ball. When Thor Þengilsson fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hafdal Grenivík's protests and gave Thor Þengilsson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th minute, Thor Þengilsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Auðmundur Tómasson shot a long shot in the 26th minute and a light blocked Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 1-0. Valþór Rúnarsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Þórlindur Hallvarðsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson having to interfere. In the 34th minute Valþór Rúnarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valþór Rúnarsson in the 36th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Hafdal Grenivík's goal looked a bit too open when Valþór Rúnarsson came free, but Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hlini Másson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Arnold Ægisson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valþór Rúnarsson was the one to do the kick off. After 51 played minutes Víðir Reykjavík got a freekick which was hit by Valdimar Eðvarsson. Hlégestur Guðbjörnsson came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Víðir Reykjavík's Þórlindur Hallvarðsson. But to his dismay, Þórlindur Hallvarðsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Hlini Másson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Valdimar Eðvarsson fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Víðir Reykjavík's protests and gave Valdimar Eðvarsson a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hlini Másson got free with Arnold Ægisson in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sigurjón Bogason's late challenge caught a Hafdal Grenivík's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A very good chance. 88 minutes into the game, Hlini Másson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Arnold Ægisson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
