In the 5th minute Engill Jósepsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Snælaugur Andrason saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Martak Mývatni's Hlöðmundur Jóhannsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Martak Mývatni from getting a goal against them. Embla Dalvík's Benedikt Larsson got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Embla Dalvík's Snælaugur Andrason played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Engill Jósepsson in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Embla Dalvík's goal looked a bit too open when Hallfreður Ormarsson came free, but Snælaugur Andrason reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ósvífur Þorkelsson kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Hallfreður Ormarsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Snælaugur Andrason was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Engill Jósepsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vésteinn Eyjólfsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Hallfreður Ormarsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Martak Mývatni's supporters rose to their feet, but Hallfreður Ormarsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Snælaugur Andrason breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ósvífur Þorkelsson charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ósvífur Þorkelsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 31st match minute, Martak Mývatni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ósvífur Þorkelsson to maneuver through the defense. When Vésteinn Eyjólfsson came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Embla Dalvík fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vésteinn Eyjólfsson couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Engill Jósepsson during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jens Þórsson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 42nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Snælaugur Andrason. Embla Dalvík's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hallfreður Ormarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Snælaugur Andrason tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Embla Dalvík's Snælaugur Andrason played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hallfreður Ormarsson in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Benedikt Larsson made the kick off in the second half. With his leg Snælaugur Andrason managed to avoid a goal in the 54thth minute, when Martak Mývatni's Hallfreður Ormarsson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Snælaugur Andrason made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Hallfreður Ormarsson sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th match minute, Embla Dalvík was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gunnsteinn Arndórsson to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Martak Mývatni's Engill Jósepsson got a free kick in the 65th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Embla Dalvík's zone, Engill Jósepsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Snælaugur Andrason came out of the goal and Engill Jósepsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hallfreður Ormarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Snælaugur Andrason having to interfere. If Hallfreður Ormarsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Vésteinn Eyjólfsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martak Mývatni's Hlöðmundur Jóhannsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedikt Larsson in the 89th minute of play. Benedikt Larsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Hlöðmundur Jóhannsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Martak Mývatni had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
