Eyþór Gabríelsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guðmann Andrason read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Unnsteinn Galdursson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guðmann Andrason having to interfere. Guðmann Andrason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Unnsteinn Galdursson, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 34th minute, Eyþór Gabríelsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Unnsteinn Galdursson struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Guðmann Andrason didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mark Mývatni. In the 40th minute Eyþór Gabríelsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guðmann Andrason saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The wind increased when Gústav Sverrisson made the kick off in the second half. Bergfinnur Almarsson hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 53rd minute, Jónas Óskarsson sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Optima Akranesi's Guðmann Andrason didn't even have to move. If Unnsteinn Galdursson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Optima Akranesi defense, Eyþór Gabríelsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guðmann Andrason. The Optima Akranesi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guðmann Andrason should have stopped the shot. Guðmann Andrason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Unnsteinn Galdursson in the 70th minute of play. Mark Mývatni's Hyltir Gíslason played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gústav Sverrisson in the 72nd minute of play. Eyþór Gabríelsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Guðmann Andrason made a huge save. With a little luck, Optima Akranesi's Guðmann Andrason got control of the ball when Eyþór Gabríelsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Optima Akranesi's zone, Unnsteinn Galdursson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guðmann Andrason came out of the goal and Unnsteinn Galdursson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Unnsteinn Galdursson in the 82nd minute of play forced Optima Akranesi's goalkeeper Guðmann Andrason to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Optima Akranesi's goalkeeper Guðmann Andrason had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eyþór Gabríelsson. Unnsteinn Galdursson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hyltir Gíslason took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vilbergur Darrason, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mark Mývatni players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
