Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Vallaður Gabríelsson started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Vallaður Gabríelsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sleggja's supporters rose to their feet, but Vallaður Gabríelsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Galdur Gretarsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Njarðvík's zone, Vallaður Gabríelsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Galdur Gretarsson came out of the goal and Vallaður Gabríelsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sleggja booed when Njarðvík was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Þorleikur Vilhelmsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Víglundur Gilsson in the 15th minute of play forced Njarðvík's goalkeeper Galdur Gretarsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sölvi Arnleifsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Saxi Larsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sölvi Arnleifsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Njarðvík getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Gunnlaugur Baldursson hit a great ball. Galdur Gretarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vallaður Gabríelsson in the 38th minute of the match. Vallaður Gabríelsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Márus Þráinson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Galdur Gretarsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Vallaður Gabríelsson struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Galdur Gretarsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sleggja. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sölvi Arnleifsson to make the kick off. If Sölvi Arnleifsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arngeir Baldvinsson took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Saxi Larsson. Saxi Larsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 64 minutes into the game, one of Njarðvík:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 69 minutes into the match, Njarðvík's goalkeeper Galdur Gretarsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Márus Þráinson. In the 77th minute, Gunnlaugur Baldursson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Njarðvík's Galdur Gretarsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Njarðvík from getting a goal against them. Galdur Gretarsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vallaður Gabríelsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Njarðvík's Galdur Gretarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vallaður Gabríelsson in the 98th minute of play.
