The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Barri Geraldsson charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barri Geraldsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 45th minute, Barri Geraldsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kolur Sindrason was the one to do the kick off. If Kolur Sindrason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 54 minutes of play, KFS Suðureyri's Jónsteinn Karlsson made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Krister Þrándsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, KFS Suðureyri's Bergþór Magnússon got control of the ball when Jóann Sigurjónsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to KFS Suðureyri getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Anders Franklínsson hit a great ball. Jóann Sigurjónsson took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bergþór Magnússon . Bergþór Magnússon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 75 minutes into the match, Kolur Sindrason had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Krister Þrándsson. Samsýn Hólmavík's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kolur Sindrason was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Nils Hjörvarsson hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Bergþór Magnússon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jóann Sigurjónsson went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Bergþór Magnússon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jóann Sigurjónsson in the 85th minute. In the 88th match minute, Samsýn Hólmavík was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hafni Árnason to maneuver through the defense. Krister Þrándsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kolur Sindrason, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The Samsýn Hólmavík players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented KFS Suðureyri from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
