After 4 minutes of play, Dimitrovgrad's Mateja Gardašević made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Slaven Stanimirović was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dimitrovgrad's Mateja Gardašević got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vujadin Jovičić in the 15th minute of play forced Kotraža's goalkeeper Slaven Stanimirović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Dimitrovgrad's Vujadin Jovičić sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Slaven Stanimirović narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Jevtimije Mirović managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kotraža's supporters rose to their feet, but Jevtimije Mirović was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gradiša Videkanić breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mateja Gardašević fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Slaven Stanimirović having to interfere. If Krsta Starčanin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jadranko Laković sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gradiša Videkanić stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jevtimije Mirović's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Kotraža's zone, Mateja Gardašević stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Slaven Stanimirović came out of the goal and Mateja Gardašević tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gradiša Videkanić was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Jevtimije Mirović capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jevtimije Mirović really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vujadin Jovičić stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Vujadin Jovičić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th minute, Vujadin Jovičić reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Slaven Stanimirović. The goal made the score 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mateja Gardašević got free with Slaven Stanimirović in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jevtimije Mirović received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Gradiša Videkanić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Krsta Starčanin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gradiša Videkanić having to make a save. In the 83rd minute, Mateja Gardašević got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 84 played minutes Kotraža got a freekick which was hit by Božo Kulić. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mateja Gardašević got free with Slaven Stanimirović in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vujadin Jovičić in the 95th minute of play forced Kotraža's goalkeeper Slaven Stanimirović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Slaven Stanimirović came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Dimitrovgrad's Vujadin Jovičić. But to his dismay, Vujadin Jovičić quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Dimitrovgrad had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
