Whiteley's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Adam Stanjević kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the game, Milisav Denić was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rye's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whiteley the free kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Radmilo Kankaraš stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Whiteley's Gligorije Paljević got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Rye's Radmilo Kankaraš got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jagoš Vanevski lost his temper 58 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 61st minute there was a penalty for Whiteley. Eldar Krstičić stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gradimir Ranković. 1-0. If Gradimir Mudrić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Husein Bokan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 76 minutes, Gradimir Mudrić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
