Spectators: 37 (Terracing: 29, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Stoke-on-Trent's Vojimir Kisić started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Vojimir Kisić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Lewington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 5 minutes into the game, Vojimir Kisić recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Frank Lewington. Vojimir Kisić showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 8 minutes into the match, Heybridge's goalkeeper Frank Lewington had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Smajo Pešikan. Heybridge's Frank Lewington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vojimir Kisić in the 9th minute of play. Gareth Lydiate's late challenge caught a Stoke-on-Trent's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gareth Lydiate helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Heybridge getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Gareth Lydiate hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the match, Heybridge's goalkeeper Frank Lewington had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Smajo Pešikan. The supporters of Stoke-on-Trent booed when Heybridge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reuben Kirkpatrick didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 15th minute by Vojimir Kisić got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A collision led to Heybridge getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Reuben Kirkpatrick hit a great ball. Marty Nash hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. If Vojimir Kisić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Stoke-on-Trent booed when Heybridge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marty Nash didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 30 played minutes, Stoke-on-Trent's Milomir Ognjenović shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frank Lewington came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stoke-on-Trent reached it. A collision led to Stoke-on-Trent getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Zulfikar Višnjić hit a great ball. Marko Mujević made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Lobb in the 32nd minute of play. Leon Lobb recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leon Lobb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Marko Mujević tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Stoke-on-Trent's Zulfikar Višnjić got a free kick in the 37th minute. Marko Mujević took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ralf Downing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 49th minute of the match Timothy Thurman sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marko Mujević skillfully saved the ball.

Marko Mujević didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 53rd minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. Frank Lewington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Smajo Pešikan in the 62nd minute of play. Smajo Pešikan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Lewington having to interfere. Frank Lewington made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vojimir Kisić in the 79th minute of play forced Heybridge's goalkeeper Frank Lewington to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Vojimir Kisić's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frank Lewington was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. When Ralf Downing came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Heybridge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ralf Downing couldn't finish the play. Frank Lewington came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Stoke-on-Trent's Vojimir Kisić. But to his dismay, Vojimir Kisić quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. Smajo Pešikan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Lewington having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Vojimir Kisić managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stoke-on-Trent's supporters rose to their feet, but Vojimir Kisić was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frank Lewington breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
