Rye's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leo Zorić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ralf Downing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gradimir Ranković having to interfere. Marty Nash hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Radmilo Kankaraš received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Frank Lewington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Leo Zorić got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Reuben Kirkpatrick's late challenge caught a Rye's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reuben Kirkpatrick helped the player get up and apologised. In the 51st match minute, Heybridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reuben Kirkpatrick to maneuver through the defense. Dan Notley tried in the game's 52nd match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Frank Lewington. An annoying self made goal, 2-1. If Radmilo Kankaraš had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 3-2 became the score in the 77th minute when Ralf Downing elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Frank Lewington made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Leo Zorić sent off a good shot on target. Gareth Lydiate hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Leo Zorić could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Frank Lewington made a huge save. Frank Lewington showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Husein Bokan in the 92nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Leo Zorić managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rye's supporters rose to their feet, but Leo Zorić was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frank Lewington breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew the final whistle, Heybridge could leave the field as winners, despite Rye having more of the ball for most of the match.
