Chadderton United's Višeslav Stojčić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bobby Crocker in the 5th minute of play. Višeslav Stojčić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bobby Crocker in the 14th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Elvis Milović managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chadderton United's supporters rose to their feet, but Elvis Milović was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eddy Orchard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elvis Milović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Višeslav Stojčić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Russell Sewell in the 21st minute of play. In the 26th play minute Davor Ćirović came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Eddy Orchard. 1-0. Davor Ćirović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jo Cunningham fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sawtry FC's protests and gave Jo Cunningham a yellow card for diving instead. After 37 played minutes Sawtry FC got a freekick which was hit by Jo Cunningham. Sawtry FC's Russell Sewell got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Russell Sewell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Višeslav Stojčić having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bobby Crocker to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Elvis Milović managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eddy Orchard was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Elvis Milović's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eddy Orchard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. After 59 played minutes Sawtry FC got a freekick which was hit by Robin McGrath. After having played for 63 minutes, Davor Ćirović managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chadderton United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Davor Ćirović was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Chadderton United's Gligorije Jakovljević got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 67th minute of the match Sawtry FC got a corner. Chadderton United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leon Browning ran over to the corner to take the kick. Sawtry FC's Leon Browning was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Višeslav Stojčić in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Chadderton United getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Davor Ćirović hit a great ball. Chadderton United's Višeslav Stojčić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Russell Sewell in the 71st minute of play. Eddy Orchard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elvis Milović in the 78th minute of the match. Eddy Orchard stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elvis Milović's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Russell Sewell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Višeslav Stojčić made a huge save. The supporters of Sawtry FC booed when Chadderton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Koča Čaušević didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eddy Orchard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elvis Milović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Chadderton United had won after a very even match.
