Zajo Rašović showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Will Stead in the 3rd minute of the match. If Will Stead had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zulfikar Matković got free with Len Bowler in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Will Stead fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zajo Rašović having to interfere. Len Bowler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bogić Mrđa in the 24th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Zulfikar Matković fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Len Bowler, passed just outside the right post. Zajo Rašović made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Will Stead in the 30th minute of play. Len Bowler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bogić Mrđa in the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Zulfikar Matković made a precise shot to the right of Len Bowler. Alston City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The supporters of Alston City booed when Skelmersdale United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Smajo Pejčinović didn't get a good kick on the ball. Will Stead fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zajo Rašović having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After having played for 54 minutes, Jamal Gascoigne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alston City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jamal Gascoigne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 59 minutes of play, Skelmersdale United's Zulfikar Matković made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Len Bowler was left in no man's land by his defense there! Zajo Rašović showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Will Stead, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After 67 played minutes Skelmersdale United got a freekick which was hit by Srđa Bulatović. In the 72nd minute Bogić Mrđa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Bowler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Len Bowler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bratislav Šarčević, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute Will Stead shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zajo Rašović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicholas Daly kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. After 79 played minutes, Skelmersdale United's Vlado Kurtović shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Len Bowler came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Skelmersdale United reached it. In the 84th minute Bogić Mrđa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Bowler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bogić Mrđa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Len Bowler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zulfikar Matković in the 89th minute of play forced Alston City's goalkeeper Len Bowler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 90 minutes, Bob King mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alston City and the Skelmersdale United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 90th minute, Bob King hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Alston City's zone, Zulfikar Matković stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Len Bowler came out of the goal and Zulfikar Matković tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Alston City defense, Bogić Mrđa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Len Bowler. The Alston City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Len Bowler should have stopped the shot. Skelmersdale United's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
