The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Sawtry FC got a freekick which was hit by Selmir Ljumović. Vukosav Vidović recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Blagoje Krkanović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 17 in the game by Vukosav Vidović from a close distance when the talented Šućo Krgović managed to make a qualified save. Sawtry FC's players were relieved. In the 19th minute Blagoje Krkanović shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Šućo Krgović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stavro Janković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Zaviša Račić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stavro Janković in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zaviša Račić saved Smallfield Unit from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jugoslav Đalović in the 31st minute of play forced Smallfield Unit's goalkeeper Zaviša Račić to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vukosav Vidović got free with Šućo Krgović in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zaviša Račić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jugoslav Đalović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Selmir Ljumović charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Selmir Ljumović the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Selmir Ljumović hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Sawtry FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Blagoje Krkanović 44 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 58th minute, Stavro Janković got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sava Grković charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sava Grković the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Sawtry FC's Sava Grković got a free kick in the 61st minute. Jugoslav Đalović who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Zaviša Račić when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jugoslav Đalović got free with Zaviša Račić in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sawtry FC's Dragić Grković got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Selmir Ljumović hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Šućo Krgović took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vukosav Vidović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stavro Janković fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zaviša Račić having to interfere. Sawtry FC's Stavro Janković got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vukosav Vidović in the 87th minute of play forced Sawtry FC's goalkeeper Šućo Krgović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Smallfield Unit's Zaviša Račić proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Smallfield Unit from getting a goal against them. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Smallfield Unit! In the 91st minute there was a penalty for Sawtry FC. Dragić Grković stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zaviša Račić. 1-2. Šućo Krgović took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blagoje Krkanović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Šućo Krgović stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vukosav Vidović's shot from short distance in the 98th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sawtry FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
