Riadh Ammar scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ali Naouali, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Riadh Ammar in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ali Naouali prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Retford AFC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Brahim Trabelsi hit a great ball. Néji Hammemi struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Ahmad Ben Zid didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Houghton le Spring. Ali Naouali made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Slaheddine Chouchane in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Retford AFC's Abdallah Ouhir got a free kick in the 19th minute. Ayèche Mourali kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Ali Naouali showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Riadh Ammar in the 33rd minute of the match. After 33 played minutes Houghton le Spring got a freekick which was hit by Salah Rehouma. An unexpectedly hard shot by Riadh Ammar in the 36th minute of play forced Houghton le Spring's goalkeeper Ali Naouali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Riadh Ammar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Naouali having to interfere. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by Houghton le Spring's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Abdallah Ouhir was slow to take the kick. During this time Retford AFC's players had a chance to rest. After having played for 47 minutes, Pierre Attouga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Houghton le Spring's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pierre Attouga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
If Mohamed Memmi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ali Naouali showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Slaheddine Chouchane in the 55th minute of the match. Pierre Attouga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Houghton le Spring booed when Retford AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aymen Sellimi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Slaheddine Chouchane blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ali Naouali having to make a save. Ahmad Ben Zid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Attouga in the 71st minute of play. After 72 played minutes Retford AFC got a freekick which was hit by Adel Sayah. Moncef Salem sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th match minute, Houghton le Spring was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierre Attouga to maneuver through the defense. After 84 minutes, Aymen Sellimi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Retford AFC and the Houghton le Spring players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Retford AFC getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Aymen Sellimi hit a great ball. Ali Naouali stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Slaheddine Chouchane's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Abdallah Ouhir took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ali Naouali. Houghton le Spring's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Pierre Attouga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute, Slaheddine Chouchane got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zoubeir Tlili hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Slaheddine Chouchane sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Retford AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Retford AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
