The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 8 minutes, Mehdi Mahouachi made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Newark's Mourad Selliti tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adel Saada in the 12th minute of play forced Newark's goalkeeper Mourad Selliti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Barnstaple booed when Newark was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mohamed Bouzayène didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Marouane Mrabet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newark's supporters rose to their feet, but Marouane Mrabet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ali Dhafer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Adel Saada got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ziad Amor got free with Ali Dhafer in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Barnstaple! When the match had been going on for 50 minutes, Newark's Muhammad Chiki got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ali Dhafer. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Ali Dhafer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marouane Mrabet in the 57th minute of the match. Fatah Jaïdi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ziad Amor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Dhafer having to interfere. Ali Dhafer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ziad Amor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Newark's Ammar Nafti suffered a sore thigh after 98 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 98 minutes, Fraj Rzouga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barnstaple and the Newark players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 100 played minutes Barnstaple got a freekick which was hit by Fraj Rzouga. Barnstaple's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
