Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abdelkarim Saidi ran back to his position shaking his head. Abdelhamid Baya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Muhammad Hadrioui in the 11th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Muhammad Hadrioui shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdelhamid Baya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chedi Cherni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zied Zahaf kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Chedi Cherni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 38 minutes, Ali Chiki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Greenwich and the Hoddesdon players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ali Chiki kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. If Chedi Cherni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Riadh Kerrit in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Khaled Falhi saved Greenwich from getting behind. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of Hoddesdon booed when Greenwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ali Chiki didn't get a good kick on the ball. Khaled Falhi was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Zied Zahaf. After 61 played minutes Greenwich got a freekick which was hit by Youssef Sayah. Abderrahim Ben Arfa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdelhamid Baya having to interfere. Muhammad Hadrioui took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abdelhamid Baya. Abdelhamid Baya dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 70th minute Muhammad Hadrioui shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdelhamid Baya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Abderrahim Ben Arfa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Greenwich's supporters rose to their feet, but Abderrahim Ben Arfa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abdelhamid Baya breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th match minute, Hoddesdon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hassine Chipo to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Khaled Falhi managed to avoid a goal in the 85thth minute, when Hoddesdon's Chedi Cherni fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Abderrahim Ben Arfa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chedi Cherni in the 92ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Khaled Falhi, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 97th minute Muhammad Hadrioui shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdelhamid Baya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Greenwich's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
