With a couple of smart ball manuevers Haykel Kerrit in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Néji Essediri saved South Shields from getting behind. An unexpected shot in the 7th minute by Hocine Limam got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Néji Essediri didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Haykel Kerrit went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 12 minutes into the game, Mehdi Ghigani cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Néji Essediri was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With an all-out effort, South Shields's Adel Mahouachi threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jemeleddine Boumnijel, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Stoke-on-Trent FC booed when South Shields was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jemeleddine Boumnijel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haykel Kerrit sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Haykel Kerrit received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Néji Essediri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Mehdi Ghigani came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Stoke-on-Trent FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mehdi Ghigani couldn't finish the play. Néji Essediri was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mehdi Ghigani in the 46th minute of play forced South Shields's goalkeeper Néji Essediri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sabri Decastel made a kick off. Néji Essediri made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mehdi Ghigani in the 53rd minute. If Mehdi Ghigani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Chaker Ben Aïssa hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. 85 minutes into the match, Stoke-on-Trent FC's Haykel Kerrit sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Néji Essediri narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mehdi Ghigani blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Néji Essediri having to make a save. When the match was over Stoke-on-Trent FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than South Shields throughout the match.
