Hassib Sguir's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zoubair Mestiri read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Moncef Nefzi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Radhi Guelbi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noureddine Boumnijel having to interfere. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Settle United's goalkeeper Noureddine Boumnijel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Settle United's Hassib Sguir got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Akram M'henni charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Akram M'henni the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ashton-in-Makerfield booed when Settle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Akram M'henni didn't get a good kick on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moncef Nefzi was the one to do the kick off. After 69 minutes of play, Settle United's Hassib Sguir made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zoubair Mestiri was left in no man's land by his defense there! Moncef Nefzi might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Noureddine Boumnijel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Moncef Nefzi ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Settle United's Noureddine Boumnijel got control of the ball when Radhi Guelbi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nejib Abdelkader got his second yellow card in the match during the 78th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 79 played minutes Ashton-in-Makerfield got a freekick which was hit by Nejib Abdelkader. Settle United's Riadh Ouhir got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Settle United's Habib Karoui got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 86thth minute of the game Habib Karoui who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ashton-in-Makerfield's Zoubair Mestiri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hassib Sguir sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Habib Karoui might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zoubair Mestiri. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Habib Karoui ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ashton-in-Makerfield's goalkeeper Zoubair Mestiri, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ashton-in-Makerfield's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
