Thirsk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brighton the free kick. Bassem Bouali recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Muhammad Bouazizi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Thirsk getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Youssef Jaziri hit a great ball. Bassem Bouali sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Thirsk's Albert Ladgham got a free kick in the 12th minute. Habib Slimane was out of position in the 15 minute of play, and Ahmed Bourguiba capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ahmed Bourguiba really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 19th minute Muhammad Bouazizi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hedhili El Ouaer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Bassem Bouali had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hedhili El Ouaer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bassem Bouali, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 24 minutes, Kaies Salem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thirsk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kaies Salem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Brighton booed when Thirsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albert Ladgham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Albert Ladgham got his second yellow card in the match during the 31st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Kaies Salem managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thirsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Kaies Salem was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Habib Slimane breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bassem Bouali fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hedhili El Ouaer having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Muhammad Bouazizi made a precise shot to the right of Hedhili El Ouaer . Thirsk's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kaies Salem stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Bassem Bouali managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bassem Bouali got free with Hedhili El Ouaer in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kaies Salem struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Habib Slimane didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thirsk. After 88 played minutes Thirsk got a freekick which was hit by Ahmed Bourguiba. In the 89th minute, Hamed Sellami sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Thirsk's Hedhili El Ouaer didn't even have to move. Hedhili El Ouaer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Muhammad Bouazizi in the 91st minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
