Raouf El Abidine Ben Ali was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 4th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After recieving a nice pass, Chesterfield AFC's Moustafa Khalifa tried to score from far away in the 8th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 10 minutes into the match, Chesterfield AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Helmi Missaoui came free, but Nizar Arfa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chesterfield AFC's Nizar Arfa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Helmi Missaoui in the 12th minute of play. Nizar Arfa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Helmi Missaoui in the 13th minute of play. After 15 played minutes Hartlepool United got a freekick which was hit by Muhammad Ayed. 16 minutes into the match, Chesterfield AFC's Moustafa Khalifa broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Ahmed Kasraoui's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fatah Jelassi firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of Chesterfield AFC booed when Hartlepool United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Muhammad Ayed didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th match minute, Hartlepool United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmed Mestiri to maneuver through the defense. Moustafa Khalifa, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Yassine Gharbi charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Yassine Gharbi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 32 played minutes Hartlepool United got a freekick which was hit by Yassine Gharbi. Mohamed Salah Zidane struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Fatah Jelassi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chesterfield AFC. In the 38th minute, Ahmed Nafti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute of the match Raouf El Abidine Ben Ali sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nizar Arfa skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helmi Missaoui in the 48th minute of play forced Chesterfield AFC's goalkeeper Nizar Arfa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mohamed Salah Zidane to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Helmi Missaoui got free with Nizar Arfa in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chesterfield AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mohamed Salah Zidane was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nizar Arfa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmed Haddad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ahmed Kasraoui received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Fatah Jelassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
