Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Tommy McOwl kicked off to start the match. Walter Carson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darius McMonies in the 3rd minute of play. Charlie Tosh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Barry Cottrill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Carson having to interfere. Walter Carson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barry Cottrill in the 14th minute of the match. Charlie Tosh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Wayne Stevenson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Forfar City's Darius McMonies got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Darius McMonies fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Carson having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Kenneth Fox hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Forfar City's Simon McIlvride got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Barry Cottrill to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Rory McHugh was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gretna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Forfar City the free kick. Rory McHugh hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. When Simon McIlvride came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Forfar City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon McIlvride couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Cottrill in the 56th minute of play forced Gretna's goalkeeper Walter Carson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walter Carson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Cottrill in the 57th minute of play. Walter Carson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Cottrill, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Barry Cottrill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Walter Carson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barry Cottrill in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walter Carson saved Gretna from getting behind. Barry Cottrill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barry Cottrill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Carson having to interfere. With a little luck, Gretna's Walter Carson got control of the ball when Darius McMonies tried to sneak it across the goal line. Darius McMonies sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ciaran McOwl struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Wayne Stevenson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gretna. Forfar City's Wayne Stevenson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy McOwl in the 98th minute of play.
