Irvin McKay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stephen Home fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Les McLymont having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Stephen Home ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Les McLymont was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Irvin McKay in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Les McLymont prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Les McLymont made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephen Home in the 16th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stephen Home in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Les McLymont saved Freshwater from getting behind. Freshwater's Les McLymont played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stephen Home in the 23rd minute of play. Joseph Spittel's late challenge caught a Tranent City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joseph Spittel helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Tranent City booed when Freshwater was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joseph Spittel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stephen Home recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Freshwater's goal looked a bit too open when Reece McNayer came free, but Les McLymont reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Stephen Home managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tranent City's supporters rose to their feet, but Stephen Home was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Les McLymont breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 32 minutes into the match, Freshwater's goal looked a bit too open when Irvin McKay came free, but Les McLymont reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Freshwater's Gareth Archibald got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 34th match minute, Tranent City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reece McNayer to maneuver through the defense. 1-1 became the score in the 42nd minute when Gareth Archibald elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 47th minute, Gareth Archibald got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alisdair McFeat to strike the kick off in the second half. Drew Caw took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alisdair McFeat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 53 minutes into the game, Nathan Simson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tranent City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Freshwater the free kick. Nathan Simson kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Tranent City defense, Alisdair McFeat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Drew Caw. The Tranent City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Drew Caw should have stopped the shot. 58 minutes into the game, Freshwater's Gareth Archibald nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Drew Caw made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. After having played for 65 minutes, Alisdair McFeat managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Freshwater's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alisdair McFeat was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Tranent City's goal looked a bit too open when Alisdair McFeat came free, but Drew Caw reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute, Gareth Archibald left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Freshwater fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Drew Caw showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gareth Archibald, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 73rd minute Alisdair McFeat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew Caw saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stephen Home could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Les McLymont made a huge save. After having played for 86 minutes, Stephen Home managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tranent City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stephen Home was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, Irvin McKay reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Les McLymont. The goal made the score 5-2. Stephen Home received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Les McLymont tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Les McLymont was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Irvin McKay showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-3 in the 97 minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Freshwater could leave the field as winners, despite Tranent City having more of the ball for most of the match.
