Montrose Flames's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Greig Barton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 20th minute Donald Goudie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darius Colman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Ronnie McLennan made a precise shot to the right of Darius Colman. Lochearnhead's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Donald Goudie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Colman having to interfere. Lochearnhead's Darius Colman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fraser Cumin in the 27th minute of play. When Donald Goudie came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Montrose Flames fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donald Goudie couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Montrose Flames getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Eric McShimes hit a great ball. 31 minutes into the match, Lochearnhead's goal looked a bit too open when Donald Goudie came free, but Darius Colman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Greg Duffy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Montrose Flames's Eric McShimes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Darius Colman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 38 minutes of play, Montrose Flames's Eric McShimes made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Darius Colman was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 45th minute Eric McShimes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darius Colman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Lochearnhead players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Montrose Flames were winning 1-2.
Darius Colman was a little too slow when Fraser Cumin got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 53rd minute. The score was now 1-3. If Donald Goudie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fraser Cumin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Colman having to interfere. Paul Coulson kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Eric McShimes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Darius Colman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eric McShimes in the 68th minute. In the 70th minute Greig Barton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin McGilchrist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Lochearnhead's Greig Barton got a free kick in the 85th minute. 86 minutes into the game, Theo McLeod was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Montrose Flames's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lochearnhead the free kick. After 86 played minutes Montrose Flames got a freekick which was hit by Theo McLeod. When Eric McShimes came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Montrose Flames fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eric McShimes couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Montrose Flames booed when Lochearnhead was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ken McCrindle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donald Goudie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Darius Colman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Lochearnhead fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Montrose Flames were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
