If Fergus Bontein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute, Jacob Symon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. David Higginson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Derek McRaith made a kick off. Adam Caird hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Jacob Symon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ardrossan City's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacob Symon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Higginson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Derek McRaith had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacob Symon scored 3-1 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of David Higginson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jack Lair got free with Sean Cooke in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 99th minute Derek McRaith shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Higginson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ardrossan City were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Dingwall FC for a fine match.
