Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Nicol Pinkerton got the match started through his kick off. Martin Grier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Euan Caddell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Grier in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Euan Caddell prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 8 minutes, Robert McNair managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Banchory's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert McNair was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Robert McNair received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Angus Yule tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Martin Grier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Euan Caddell was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Montrose United's Martin Grier got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 24 minutes into the match, Banchory's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Grier came free, but Euan Caddell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Montrose United's Martin Grier sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Euan Caddell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 26th minute, Calum McRaith hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Martin Grier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Euan Caddell having to interfere. Edmond Torry could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Angus Yule made a huge save. Edmond Torry kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Euan Caddell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Grier, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Robert McNair was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 43rd minute. Banchory's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Nicol Pinkerton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Angus Yule made a huge save.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Martin Grier to make the kick off. When Max Arbuckle fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Banchory's protests and gave Max Arbuckle a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Montrose United booed when Banchory was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Arbuckle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frankie Huntly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Euan Caddell having to interfere. Ben Neal charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ben Neal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 67 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Banchory! In the 70th minute Martin Grier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Euan Caddell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Euan Caddell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Grier in the 73rd minute of play. Frankie Huntly struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Euan Caddell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montrose United. If Robert McNair had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by David Toward during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 82nd match minute, Montrose United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Toward to maneuver through the defense. After 85 played minutes, Banchory's Ben Neal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Angus Yule came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Banchory reached it. Montrose United's Angus Yule played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicol Pinkerton in the 87th minute of play. Angus Yule made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert McNair in the 91st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Banchory's zone, Frankie Huntly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Euan Caddell came out of the goal and Frankie Huntly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
