The ball had pretty good speed, but Stuart McFarlane firmly grabbed it by the left post. 33 minutes into the match, Girvan's goal looked a bit too open when Paddy Frissell came free, but Phil McKechnie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 37 minutes on the clock, Logan McArthur commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. When Harry McGowan fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Girvan's protests and gave Harry McGowan a yellow card for diving instead. Glencoe City's Ronnie Hewitson got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronnie Hewitson in the 63rd minute of play forced Girvan's goalkeeper Phil McKechnie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guy McVurie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Stuart McFarlane tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Fergus McMinn came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Glencoe City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fergus McMinn couldn't finish the play.
