When the match had been going on for 6 minutes, Insch City's Angus O'Shannaig got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Edward Archibald. The penalty shot was made by Angus O'Shannaig, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mauchline's Edward Archibald. 2-0. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Insch City's goalkeeper Marc Howison, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edward Archibald showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David McCraw, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After 29 played minutes Mauchline got a freekick which was hit by Angus Swanson. After a defensive mix-up in Insch City's zone, Samuel Low stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marc Howison came out of the goal and Samuel Low tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edward Archibald made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jack Pearson in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Mauchline's goal looked a bit too open when David McCraw came free, but Edward Archibald reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. David McCraw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Edward Archibald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David McCraw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Archibald having to interfere. The supporters of Insch City booed when Mauchline was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angus Swanson didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Samuel Low to make the kick off. Jack Pearson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edward Archibald having to make a save. Marc Howison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Low in the 67th minute of play. Roy Rusk kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Edward Archibald made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David McCraw in the 70th minute of play. Samuel Low hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute of the match Angus O'Shannaig shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edward Archibald showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mauchline's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Low was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marc Howison breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Insch City's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
