Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Shane McCombie started the match with the kick off. When Frank Forsyth came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Menstrie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Forsyth couldn't finish the play. Tony McSorley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shane McCombie in the 5th minute of the match. With a little luck, Wick's Terence Bone got control of the ball when Ron Addy tried to sneak it across the goal line. Shane McCombie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tony McSorley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Shane Ainslie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Darren Buntain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Shane McCombie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ron Addy might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Terence Bone. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ron Addy ran back to his position shaking his head. Tony McSorley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shane McCombie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Shane McCombie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Frank Forsyth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tony McSorley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darren Buntain in the 41st minute of the match. Shane McCombie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony McSorley having to interfere. Harry McAldonich kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Forsyth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Terence Bone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Forsyth in the 53rd minute of the match. After 54 minutes, Richard Manson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wick and the Menstrie players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Wick's Richard Manson got a free kick in the 54th minute. Terence Bone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Forsyth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the match, Menstrie's goalkeeper Tony McSorley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Darren Buntain. Iain Ayres kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Shane McCombie fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Tony McSorley, passed just outside the right post. Menstrie's Frank Forsyth got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Ron Addy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wick's Terence Bone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Forsyth in the 68th minute of play. In the 73rd minute of the match Drew McMinn sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Terence Bone skillfully saved the ball. Frank Forsyth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Terence Bone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Shane McCombie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terence Bone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Forsyth, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Shane McCombie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony McSorley having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Darren Buntain reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tony McSorley. The goal made the score 0-1. Darren Buntain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Wick eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
