The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 8 minutes into the game, Wayne Adamson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of David Collier. Wayne Adamson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wayne Adamson in the 13th minute of play forced Kelty's goalkeeper David Collier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Terry McAngus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Gruer, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Tim Gow managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kelty's supporters rose to their feet, but Tim Gow was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Terry McAngus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tim Gow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terry McAngus having to interfere. Skelmorlie's Terry McAngus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sid Gruer in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th minute, Nicholas Donnellson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Kelty's zone, Reece McIldowie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Collier came out of the goal and Reece McIldowie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Reece McIldowie was extremely unlucky when he, in the 35th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Reece McIldowie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th match minute, Kelty was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicholas Donnellson to maneuver through the defense. Terry McAngus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tim Gow, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Reece McIldowie took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised David Collier. David Collier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sid Gruer was the one to do the kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Skelmorlie fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! Nick McColl shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The audience was convinced that Wayne Adamson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but David Collier was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. David Collier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wayne Adamson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sid Gruer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kelty's Gary Jones got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 74 minutes, Terry McAngus successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After having played for 79 minutes, Reece McIldowie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skelmorlie's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reece McIldowie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Skelmorlie's Wayne Adamson got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Skelmorlie's zone, Sid Gruer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Terry McAngus came out of the goal and Sid Gruer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Reece McIldowie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Skelmorlie's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sid Gruer fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Reece McIldowie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Terry McAngus managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Kelty's Tim Gow fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Skelmorlie had won after a very even match.
