Spectators: 37 (Terracing: 29, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Euan Edwards took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Timmy McLean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wally McKichan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quentin Beath, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Euan Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally McKichan having to interfere. Alisdair Aitcheson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Irvin Fairbairn charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Irvin Fairbairn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tain booed when Peebles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irvin Fairbairn didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Peebles's goalkeeper Wally McKichan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Quentin Beath. In the 25th minute, Alisdair Aitcheson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aidan Risk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timmy McLean, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Billy Reoch kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. If Euan Edwards had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quentin Beath who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Wally McKichan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Peebles getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Roddie McAldonich hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Peebles defense, Quentin Beath kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wally McKichan. The Peebles fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wally McKichan should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Alisdair Aitcheson made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Peebles's Adam Lees got a free kick in the 57th minute. After 59 played minutes, Tain's Robin McCaa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wally McKichan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tain reached it. Wally McKichan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quentin Beath in the 70th minute of play. A collision led to Peebles getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Adam Lees hit a great ball. Quentin Beath scored 3-0 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wally McKichan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Euan Edwards in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wally McKichan saved Peebles from getting behind. When Adam Lees was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 80 minutes had been played. In the 81st match minute, Peebles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adam Lees to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 82 minutes, Euan Edwards managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tain's supporters crossed their fingers, but Euan Edwards was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Quentin Beath fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally McKichan having to interfere. In the 95thth minute of the game Quentin Beath who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peebles's Wally McKichan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Euan Edwards's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wally McKichan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Tain players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
