Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Inverness AFC's Charles Inches started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Fraser Cariston got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fraser Cariston's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jimmy McCansh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Kilbirnie's goal looked a bit too open when Charles Inches came free, but Wally Crum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wally Crum showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles Inches in the 25th minute of the match. Willie McGruer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fraser Cariston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy McCansh having to interfere. Willie McGruer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Jimmy McCansh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Kilbirnie players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Inverness AFC were winning 0-2.

If Charles Inches had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Grant McDavid hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. When Darren Gilbert fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inverness AFC's protests and gave Darren Gilbert a yellow card for diving instead. In the 57th minute, Darren Gilbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Willie McGruer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Jimmy McCansh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Barry McClure kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. In the 68th minute, Barry McClure hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute, Vinny McCrain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Willie McGruer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 85th minute Fraser Cariston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimmy McCansh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wally Crum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles Inches, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 94th minute, Fraser Cariston got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
