The mood of the audience was pleasant when Grant Fyfe made the kick off which started today's match. James Elliott didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Grant Fyfe went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Newtonmore City's Colin Marnoch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Bowmaker in the 11th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Grant Fyfe in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg James Elliott saved Golspie from getting behind. Colin Marnoch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ken Bowmaker, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Harold McPhater sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, George McGoun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 25 minutes into the match, Newtonmore City's Grant Fyfe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that James Elliott narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by George McGoun in the 28th minute of play forced Golspie's goalkeeper James Elliott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 31 minutes, Josh Hawes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Golspie and the Newtonmore City players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Newtonmore City booed when Golspie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Josh Hawes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38thth minute of the game John McKinnon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Golspie's James Elliott was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Harold McPhater struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Colin Marnoch didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Golspie. In the 43rd minute, Bob Haws left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newtonmore City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Newtonmore City's Grant Fyfe got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ken Bowmaker to make the kick off. John McKinnon hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After 59 minutes, Ken Bowmaker made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Newtonmore City's Colin Marnoch tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ken Bowmaker in the 62nd minute of play forced Newtonmore City's goalkeeper Colin Marnoch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 64 minutes into the game, Ken Bowmaker cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Colin Marnoch was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Ken Bowmaker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd minute, Ken Bowmaker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Golspie fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Gavin Monzie charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gavin Monzie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gavin Monzie hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Robin McQuaire managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newtonmore City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robin McQuaire was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Colin Marnoch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ken Bowmaker in the 80th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Harold McPhater managed to get in a good position for a shot. Golspie's supporters rose to their feet, but Harold McPhater was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Colin Marnoch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Golspie's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
