In the 11th minute Terence Bowers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm McKechnie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Malcolm McKechnie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Terence Bowers in the 13th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theo McLagan in the 15th minute of play forced Montrose FC's goalkeeper Declan McLardy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Davie McGilroy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 18 played minutes Tranent City got a freekick which was hit by Andy McGorrie. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bob Lockerbie in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Declan McLardy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fraser Laidlaw hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Declan McLardy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Lockerbie in the 28th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Montrose FC's goal looked a bit too open when Theo McLagan came free, but Declan McLardy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Andy McGorrie got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Declan McLardy quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.

The wind increased when Terence Bowers made the kick off in the second half. Rob McIlwhom charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Declan McLardy yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
