Hélder Nogueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lúcio Tavares, 18 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Vermum's zone, Hélder Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Domingos Martins came out of the goal and Hélder Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 29 minutes, Alexandre Gueifão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vermum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Gueifão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nuno Pinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delfim Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Domingos Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heitor Campos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heitor Campos had several of the Vermum's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 36 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Domingos Martins as he didn't even see the shot coming. Delfim Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Nuno Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nuno Pinto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Gueifão in the 42nd minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

53 minutes into the game, Hélder Nogueira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Domingos Martins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Ruvina getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Lourenço Moreira hit a great ball. After 63 minutes, Joaquim Branco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The audience thought a goal was coming when Delfim Fernandes got free with Nuno Pinto in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
