Afonso Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílcar Lima in the 3rd minute of play. In the 8th minute Amílcar Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Gonçalves hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Amílcar Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute Vicente Ribeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Paredes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmela's goalkeeper Afonso Dias, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Humberto Moutinho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Paredes having to make a save. In the 32nd minute, Vicente Jesus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute, Humberto Moura fired a really elegant long shot, but Ricardo Paredes threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Palmela's Afonso Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amílcar Lima in the 37th minute of play. Ricardo Paredes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vicente Ribeiro's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. When Vicente Jesus fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mourao FC's protests and gave Vicente Jesus a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Mourao FC's Vicente Jesus got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Palmela got a corner. Mourao FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Humberto Moura ran over to the corner to take the kick. Palmela's Humberto Moura was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ricardo Paredes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amílcar Lima stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Ribeiro in the 52nd minute of play forced Mourao FC's goalkeeper Ricardo Paredes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afonso Dias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílcar Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manuel Gonçalves's late challenge caught a Mourao FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Gonçalves helped the player get up and apologised. After 65 played minutes Palmela got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Gonçalves. Thanks to some nice moves Bruno Aguiar could shoot a difficult shot in the 67th minute, which Afonso Dias however easily saved by the left post. Bruno Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Dias having to interfere. If Amílcar Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Bruno Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mourao FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruno Aguiar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Afonso Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 94 minutes, Carlos Fontes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mourao FC and the Palmela players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 95 played minutes Mourao FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fontes. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
