Emanuel Neto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorge Ribeiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when António Brito got free with Vicente Domingues in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rui Moniz in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Ribeiro saved Areias from getting behind. Rui Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Domingues having to interfere. Vicente Domingues was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Paulo Bessa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. Carvalhinho FC's Vicente Domingues proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Carvalhinho FC from getting a goal against them. If Paulo Bessa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. António Brito's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Vicente Domingues skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Jorge Ribeiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emanuel Neto went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Emanuel Neto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Jorge Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 46 minutes, António Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Areias's supporters crossed their fingers, but António Brito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

53 minutes into the match, Carvalhinho FC's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Bessa came free, but Vicente Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute António Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Ribeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Neto, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Paulo Bessa struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Vicente Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Areias. After 67 minutes of play, Areias's Paulo Bessa made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vicente Domingues was left in no man's land by his defense there! Paulo Bessa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Domingues having to interfere. The supporters of Areias booed when Carvalhinho FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Brito might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vicente Domingues. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. António Brito ran back to his position shaking his head. Rui Moniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 79 played minutes Areias got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Leiria. After a defensive mix-up in Areias's zone, Rui Moniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Ribeiro came out of the goal and Rui Moniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jorge Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Neto in the 87th minute of the match. Carvalhinho FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
