Sermonde's Óscar Gomes got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sermonde booed when Tuias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Bessa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sermonde's Rui Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 15th minute there was a penalty for Sermonde. Rui Santos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Pedro Morais. 0-1. If Adelino Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd match minute, Tuias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. Jorge Vianas short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Jorge Nogueira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 33 minutes into the match, Tuias's goal looked a bit too open when Adelino Monteiro came free, but Pedro Morais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedro Morais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Óscar Gomes in the 41st minute of play. If Óscar Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adelino Monteiro to make the kick off. Jorge Nogueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Viana, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After having played for 67 minutes, Óscar Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sermonde's supporters crossed their fingers, but Óscar Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 72nd minute, Jorge Viana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tomás Melo hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. The Sermonde supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sermonde would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
