With his leg Adelino Amorim managed to avoid a goal in the 8thth minute, when SC Penafiel's Vítor Borges fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Mangona FC's Manuel Porto got a free kick in the 15th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Vítor Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Penafiel's supporters rose to their feet, but Vítor Borges was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adelino Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Luís Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Mangona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Dantas came free, but Adelino Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Mangona FC's Adelino Amorim got control of the ball when Vítor Borges tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th minute Joaquim Amaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jorge Freitas made a kick off. SC Penafiel's António Pereira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save SC Penafiel from getting a goal against them. Mangona FC's Adelino Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Freitas in the 59th minute of play. Luís Simões could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but António Pereira made a huge save.
