With a left leg Artur Cabral saved Massarelos from getting behind. Álvaro Amaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Reis, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ermegil FC's zone, Vítor Reis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Álvaro Amaro came out of the goal and Vítor Reis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Vítor Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

52 minutes into the match, Ermegil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vítor Reis came free, but Álvaro Amaro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Torres got free with Artur Cabral in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Vítor Reis came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Massarelos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Reis couldn't finish the play. Hugo Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th minute Hugo Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Amaro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Óscar Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
