André Moutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 4th minute Ricardo Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Gueifão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 minutes of play, SC Ruival's Paulo Coelho made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquim Leiria was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 10th minute, Paulo Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 14th minute of the match Filipe Vieira sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Afonso Gueifão skillfully saved the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Amadeu Santarém in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquim Leiria prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Paulo Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Leiria having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Amadeu Santarém made a precise shot to the right of Joaquim Leiria. SC Velas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 26 minutes into the game, Alexandre Jesus was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Velas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Ruival the free kick. In the 26th match minute, SC Velas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Jesus to maneuver through the defense. Joaquim Leiria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Coelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Miguel Pinto sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and SC Velas's Joaquim Leiria didn't even have to move. SC Ruival's Amadeu Santarém got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Ricardo Gonçalves made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in SC Ruival's zone, André Moutinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Gueifão came out of the goal and André Moutinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Gonçalves in the 54th minute of play forced SC Ruival's goalkeeper Afonso Gueifão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquim Leiria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Coelho in the 72nd minute of play. Paulo Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Joaquim Leiria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of SC Ruival booed when SC Velas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertino Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Afonso Gueifão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Gonçalves in the 83rd minute of the match. 83 minutes into the match, Ricardo Gonçalves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Afonso Gueifão. SC Ruival's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ricardo Gonçalves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SC Velas fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Ruival had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
