The crowd rose to their feet as Duarte Assis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving André Aleixo. That made the score 1-0 in the 3 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Bastuco's zone, Ricardo Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. António Soares came out of the goal and Ricardo Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bastuco's António Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Neves in the 11th minute of play. Marco Paredes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. António Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th match minute, Bastuco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rogério Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Bastuco booed when SC Veigas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Coimbra didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg André Aleixo managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when Bastuco's Hugo Ferreira fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Duarte Assis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marco Paredes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Soares having to interfere. SC Veigas's André Aleixo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Assis in the 41st minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Duarte Assis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. SC Veigas's André Aleixo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Assis in the 51st minute of play. Bastuco's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duarte Assis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. André Aleixo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Ferreira in the 60th minute of play. André Aleixo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Ferreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marco Paredes got free with António Soares in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Hugo Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, Marco Paredes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of António Soares. Bastuco's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marco Paredes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 92nd minute Ricardo Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
